It's not everyday I run into a non-related (read: distantly related) Whiting in the wild. A few days ago, a worker at UPS asked me if I was related to her roommate, a James. I am related to a James, but not that one. We were able to narrow the clan to the Bob Whiting ranch clan in East Boise.
Congratulations to the upcoming basketball Robert Whiting in Michigan. He's been in the feed several times now.
Ancient historian Robert Whiting's book is showing up in University of Chicago, which is surprising because it was published in 1987, is out of print, and there doesn't seem to be anything new about his book on the Babylonian letters uncovered at Tell Asmar. I misinterpreted the summaries a while ago and assumed he was still writing it until recently, but that is not the case.
